After a rather shocking outing in Beijing, it’s time for Mikaela Shiffrin to bid goodbye to the 2022 Winter Olympics. What was supposed to be a multiple medal event for Shiffrin turned into a nightmare very quickly.

Mikaela came into the Games, favorites to bag several laurels. But with every performance, the podium looked like a far-fetched dream for the Olympian.

However, the Olympics is not only about winning medals. For Mikaela Shiffrin, the Winter Olympics was about creating memories. She recently shared some shots of the games and also penned down a beautiful message, thanking everyone who supported her throughout.

Shiffrin speaks her heart out
As revealed by Shiffrin, she wrote this message while sitting at the airport at 2 am. Perhaps, while going back home, she could finally take in all that happened in the last two weeks. From receiving multiple DNFs to losing out on the bronze at the Team event, the Olympics were an overwhelming experience.

But the most important thing that Mikaela will carry back home with her is the memories she made. And these are memories of a lifetime.
“Lots of different emotions swirling around,” said Mikaela. ” One thing is for sure? the last several weeks were filled with memories that will last a lifetime.”

As fierce as fire, Mikaela is not someone who breaks down easily. She acknowledges that as an athlete, winning and losing are equal parts of her career. Hence, leaving all this behind, she now looks forward to the next season.
“Heading back to Europe now for the rest of the World Cup season? plenty to look forward to still!” she added.

Mikaela Shiffrin overwhelmed with the love and support
Even after her defeat, Shiffrin was showered with immense love and support from all over the world. As revealed before, this was something she did not expect at all. Now, she took the opportunity to thank all the people who stood with her.
She said, “I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who has shown us all so much support during this Olympics.”

The pro alpine skier gave special mentions to the staff of Team USA who have worked tirelessly in the past few weeks and before, helping the athletes in the quest for glory. And while Mikaela couldn’t taste that Olympic glory this time, she walks home nothing short of a legend.
