PM Modi pays Tribute to Dhyan Chand

On the occasion of National Sports Day, PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to Hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand on a day which also happens to be his Birthday.

PM Modi gave his wishes to the country via twitter and gave his tribute to Dhyan Chand.

He also congratulated various sportspersons and coaches who will be awarded today in the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.

Major Dhyan Chand was born in the year 1905 and is considered as the best hockey player of all time by many. He won the Olympic Gold Medal for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympics.

Dhyan Chand scored over 400 goals and played his last international match in 1948.

Major Dhyan Chand passed away in 1979, on December 3.
