Bayern Munich produced one of their worst performances of the season at the estadio do dragao on Wednesday in the 1st leg of their champions league quarterfinal to hand Porto a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The Bavarians looked out of sorts from the onset and never really got going in their game although they had better possession. Initially a rush of blood from their star keeper Manuel neuer tripped Martinez who had earlier dispossessed Xabi Alonso and a penalty was rightly awarded and Porto went ahead in style.

Soon after the spot kick Bayern defence was caught napping with Dante with an error allowing Quaresmo to slot a second and send Porto to an unthinkable 2-0 lead within the 1st 11 minutes.

The game was very much in Porto’s grasp throughout with Martins Indi having a great day marking Thomas Muller.Bayern managed to score through Thiago Alacantra from a low cross from Jerome Boetang in the 28th minute but it just proved to be a aberration as Martinez struck this time for Porto with a calm and cool finish in the 65th minute to restore a two goal lead for the home side. Bayern Munich were without some of their key players like Arjen Robben , Ribery and Bastian Sweinsteiger but their manager acknowledged the fact that they weren’t good enough on the day and added that they would ‘see what can be done on their return leg at the allianz arena ‘The second leg of this fixture is on 22nd April.
