Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake reportedly delayed to March 2021

The Resetera thread reveals a picture posted by Ubisoft’s CZSK page where this announcement was made.

Roughly translated, the post reads “Greetings, Prince of Persia fans! During our Ubisoft Forward digital conference, we proudly announced Prince’s return from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. We are excited to be able to put this game in your hands again as we retell the story of Prince and Farah in the amazing 11th century Persia. However, 2020 was a year like no other. Today we would like to inform you that we need more time to complete the game. With that, the release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right decision to ensure we deliver a game you like. Thank you for your patience and continued support of the Prince of Persia, and we hope you remain safe and healthy during this holiday season.”

Clearly, there is work there needs to be done on the game which is the biggest reason for the delay. Honestly, this was not surprising at all. When the game was unveiled at the Ubisoft Forward event, fans trolled the developers for the game’s underwhelming graphics. They were thoroughly disappointed that a classic like Sands of Time had such terrible graphics and absolutely tore into Ubisoft. Clearly, this prompted Ubisoft to take immediate action and delay the game further to improve it.

One of the reasons for its graphics looking mediocre could be that it is developed on an older engine i.e. Anvil. Most of the recent Ubisoft games use Anvil Next, which is where the difference is easily spotted.
