Until now, the reports had it that the console will feature 825GB usable SSD storage. However, new information has come to light claiming that users will only be able to use 664GB of SSD storage out of the total 1TB. If that indeed is the case, it does not sound like much good news.

This information has come to light courtesy of the online gaming forum known as ResetEra. A member of the forum who goes by the name of Kenzodielocke posted some pictures of the UI of the console, which appears to be in Russian.

No device offers its entire memory for usage. However, these pictures show that the operating system files have taken up nearly 40% of the internal storage, leaving just 664GB of usable space.

This will pose a real problem, given how big the next-gen games are going to be. If this is the available storage, players will have to decide between the games they would like to keep on the console and those they can get rid of rather than maintaining a wholesome library.

On the other hand, the Xbox Series X will provide around 802GB of usable storage (at least, that is the news as of now). As for external storage, users will get 920GB usable space out of 1TB storage.

Sony has not released any official statement regarding how much storage space will be available for usage, excluding system files. Looks like the community will have to wait until the PS5 actually hits the stores to find out.
