Punjab Terror Attack: BCCI warns PCB of Calling off Ties

After the terror attack on a Police Station in Punjab today, which is believed to be from attackers from Indian-administered Kashmir, the BCCI also have gotten into the attack. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issue a stern warning to the Pakistan Cricket Board saying that Cricket can only be played between the two nation is security of Indians is not compromised.

Speaking after the Punjab terror attack BCCI’s secretary Anurag Thakur said, “Pakistan need to know that cricket can’t be played if the security and peace of our nation is affected. I understand a sport is a different thing, but our internal security is important.”

As per the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), the Indian Cricket Team is scheduled to play the Pakistan Cricket team away from home, with the UAE supposed to host the series. But with BCCI issuing a warning, things may not be as certain as before.

“We have certain issues between the boards and our country also has issues. We need to sort them out before playing cricket against Pakistan. I met the PCB representatives during the ICC meetings in Barbados. The board is not against having dialogue, but the security of the country is paramount,” added Anurag Thakur.

India-Pakistan last played a bilateral series in December 2012 when Pakistan toured India for 2 T20 Internationals and 3 One Day internationals. While the T20 series was levelled at 1-1, Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1.
