Quad Queen? 15-Year-Old Russian Creates History in China; Flawlessly Lands First Ever Quad at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

History has been made by a 15-year-old who landed the first quad at the Winter Olympics on February 7th. Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was the one who performed this impressive feat.

She became the first woman to ever do this. Valieva is one of the youngest athletes to compete in this year’s Olympics, which makes her feat all the more commendable.

Kamila Valieva stuns; lands first quad at Winter Olympics

Kamila Valieva is a certified fans’ favorite in figure skating. At the young age of 15, she is representing her country in the biggest stage in figure skating. She might be a new name in the Olympic world, but the figure skating world is no stranger to her.

The young athlete has been giving top performances for quite some time now. Just a few months ago in November, she won the Rostelecom Cup. She topped the scoreboard with the highest score in history.

Now, it looks like she will make sure her debut Olympics will be one to remember. Valieva landed the first-ever quad at the women’s free skate at the team final event.

She earned a neat score of 178.92, thereby getting ROC the Gold Medal. The US came second, grabbing the silver.

This is not Valieva’s first medal either. On Sunday, she won first place in the women’s short program. There, she became the 4th woman to land a triple axel. Valieva’s performances have been an important aspect for the ROC occupying one of the top positions in figure skating.

Is Valieva the next figure skating star?

Kamila initially started with gymnastics, ballet, and figure skating, but eventually decided to stick with figure skating. The athlete has also revealed that she is inspired by none other than star figure skater Nathan Chen. In addition, she also follows Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu. She is following in their footsteps and hopes to become a legend one day.

There will be several other figure skating events where this talented athlete will be seen. It will be interesting to see whether she can be consistent with her performances or not.
