The competition in college football is fierce, the stakes are high, and the pressure is immense. However, sometimes this pressure comes from within the team. But what happens when the competition spills over into the locker room? Or an athlete feels disrespected because of his team? This is precisely the case with the American football quarterback, CJ Stroud.

Stroud, the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback, recently shared his experience of feeling disrespected when his team chose another quarterback over him. He was a highly touted prospect for the 2020 class. Before he was selected as the second overall by the team Houston Texans, he gave an interview on “The Shop,” an NFL show. During an interview, he opened up about the emotions he felt when he was not selected and discussed his thoughts on the decision.

Before the 2021 college football season, i.e. in the preseason camp, Quinn Ewers surprisingly joined Ohio State as a quarterback. This incident left Stroud feeling blindsided and uncertain about his future with the team. Recently, via FOX Sports, he poured out his emotions on the incident when the team replaced him with Ewers, “They brought him in like a week into fall camp, which is training camp for us, and I kind of felt disrespected.” He added, “I didn’t like that. … They brought in a guy two weeks before our first game, and I thought I was the guy.

Stroud also claimed that he wasn’t aware of Ewers’ arrival, as his coaching staff didn’t give any heads-up for that. He still retained the starting quarterback position for the Buckeyes and ended the season with 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns. He also rose his team to the Rose Bowl victory over Utah Utes Football. Stroud is, however, selected to play for the Houston Texans as a No 2 overall pick this year.

Stroud was a choice and not a demand by the Texans’ owner

Following C J Stroud’s selection as the Houston Texans’ quarterback, rumors surfaced that the team’s owners had compelled their general managers to choose him with the second overall pick. However, Texans owner Cal McNair has recently dismissed such speculation, stating, “Hannah and I don’t make the picks. We’ll make it clear there,” during the 20th annual Houston Texans Charity Golf Classic.

McNair went on to say that the team’s scouts, Nick Caserio and James Lippert, are the ones who put in a lot of effort on the draft board. He also dismissed the notion that the Texans need a new quarterback simply because their quarterbacks had the lowest QBR in the NFL last season. In addition to his earlier remarks, McNair expressed his optimism about the Texans’ recent moves and expected the team to perform better than in the past three seasons.
