The SportPesa Racing Point F1 team have come out with an initiative called “Grid That Gives”. This initiative was launched earlier this weekend at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. The idea is to raise money for breast cancer awareness, in partnership with Breast Cancer Care.

In this initiative, the Racing Point team will donate £1000 for every position gained by both drivers, Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll. This will be in effect right from their grid position to their finishing position. In addition to that, the Racing Point team will also donate £50000 to Breast Cancer Care. The SportPesa company has set a target of reaching £250000 by the 2020 Formula One season.

Speaking to PlanetF1, team principal, Otmar Szafnauer said, “We are proud of the work that has been done through our partnership with Breast Cancer Care, and it’s great to see SportPesa joining our efforts to raise further awareness and funds.”

Earlier this year, the SportPesa company became the first bookmaker company to sponsor a Formula One team. Their tie up with the formerly named Force India team comes in the wake of restrictions on betting companies partnering F1 team, being lifted.

The Kenyan betting company signed a multi-year deal in order to become a well-known global F1 partner. However, coming back to the racing team, they have had an up-and-down season so far.

According to SportPesa’s Mark McGuiness, “SportPesa is delighted to support Breast Cancer Care and the important work the charity undertakes in the UK,”
