Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev Likely To Replay Their US Open Finals in Abu Dhabi

The pre-season exhibition tournament, Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2019 in Abu Dhabi will be having Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev in their event. Possibly a re-match of their epic US Open 2019 finals could take place again in the United Arab Emirates.

World Number two, Nadal has been a regular contestant of the tournament since its inception in the year 2009. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have won the Abu Dhabi title four times.

“I’m really looking forward to being returning to the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. It’s a great event and offers the best preparation for a fast start to the new season,” Nadal said. “Every time I come to Abu Dhabi I feel at home and I’m always treated so well. The spectators are knowledgeable and know how to have fun and I have very good memories playing here.”

The debutant at Mubadala Championship, Daniil Medvedev is excited to add a new tournament to his calendar. This year, World Number four is enjoying his career-best season. He reached the finals of five consecutive ATP tournaments this year and qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals 2019.

“I’ve heard so much about the Championship from my friends and there’s a lot of Russian support in Abu Dhabi. I know it’s also a popular holiday destination for my fellow countrymen so hopefully, I can draw on that in my first appearance,” said the 23-year-old Russian.

“I know the line-up will be very strong so it will be a good test of where I am heading into the new season as I look to build on what has been a great year for me so far. I will give my all and put on the best show possible for the spectators. I’m really looking forward to it,” he added.

The chief executive at Flash Entertainment voiced out his pleasure to have the ATP men in Abu Dhabi, he said, “Rafael and Daniil showed during their US Open final that they really are at the top of their game and that is only a good thing for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. Besides the show stoppers of tennis, the five-time Grand Slam champion, Maria Sharapova decides to feature at Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2019. Along with the Russian champion, America’s promising tennis player, Amanda Anisimova will play the Abu Dhabi exhibition event this year.

Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2019 will take place from 19-21 December 2019 at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
