Rafael Nadal Announces his Decision for ATP World Tour Finals 2019

World No.1 Rafael Nadal has confirmed his participation at the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 after taking advice from the doctors following his MRI reports on Tuesday.

Rafael Nadal had pulled out of the last week’s Rolex Paris Masters 2019 due to a strain in his abdomen during the warm-up before his semifinal match against Denis Shapovalov. The Spaniard’s participation at the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 was doubtful as he went through an MRI scan to check up on his abdomen.

However, just a couple of hours before the ATP World Tour Finals 2019 draw, the 19-time Grand Slam champion confirmed that he will be traveling to London for the final event of the season despite a small strain in his right abdominal rectum.

The Spaniard made an announcement through his Twitter account as he wrote, “Hi everyone. Yesterday I had a resonance in Mallorca and despite having a small strain in the right abdominal rectum, I will travel to London. Thursday or Friday I will start adapting to the service. The idea is to be able to play the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Thanks for the support!”

As per Nadal’s team, the Mallorcan will travel to London tomorrow and will start serving on Thursday or Friday as the serving is an issue for the 33-year-old due to the sprain.

If Rafael Nadal pulls out mid-event, then his compatriot, Roberto Bautista Agut will have the chance to play his maiden ATP World Tour Finals as an alternate.

The ATP World Tour Finals 2019 is scheduled to commence from 10th November 2019 with the climax of the event on 17th November 2019. Rafael Nadal has never won a title at the year-end event and will try to break that record this year.

The 2019 US Open champion is also battling for the year-end No.1 position with Novak Djokovic and he will have to reach at least the finals of the event to secure the position disregarding of Djokovic’s result.
