In the second-last pre-quarterfinal match of Rolex Paris Masters 2019, Rafael Nadal defeated Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 6-4. During the smooth battle against Wawrinka, Nadal called the doctor on the court in the middle of second set.

Apparently, the second seed in Paris, Nadal was suffering from some stomach issues and hence he called the doctor. “I had a little bit of the stomach, nothing important, but I wanted to take something to feel a bit better but was nothing important,” Rafa told Sky Germany. Further details will soon be revealed in the post-match presser.

Set One:

World Number two, Nadal began with a tough service-hold which was accompanied by a double-fault and a few unforced errors. However, the hefty serves from Stan Wawrinka were withered away by the Swiss’ uncontrolled groundstrokes which aided Rafael Nadal to lead by a break at 2-1. Backing up the break with a serve and volley, the Spaniard led by 3-1 in the opening set.

Wawrinka continued to be safe and was trailing by a single break throughout the set. He produced a love-hold by responding in a vintage manner to the deadly shots from Rafael Nadal.

Simply Stan!

Tough Wawrinka returned a few winners while Rafa was serving for the match, but those unforced errors from the Swiss aided Nadal to close out the set 6-4.

Set Two:

Wawrinka continued to play a safe game and did his best to overcome the prowess of Nadal.

A taxing service game for Rafa for 2-2 hold and that involved his lethal forehand response to Stan’s smash from the net!
