Rafael Nadal can echo Roger Federer of 2017

During the 2017 season, the Swiss maestro came back from a six-month injury and ended up winning the Australian Open 2017 and followed it by winning the Wimbledon Championships as well. At the moment, Nadal is doing something similar to what the Swiss ace did back then. American legend John McEnroe related the sequences and spoke on this topic.

He stated, “It’s amazing. He’s going to do something Roger did, Roger was gone for six months five years ago, didn’t play, was injured. He won I think three five-setters and Rafa is in a similar situation. You don’t think for a moment he didn’t come here and think he could win this competition. I don’t believe that.”

At the moment, Federer is not competing at the Australian Open. He has not featured in any event since his Wimbledon Championships exit. He required another knee surgery and mentioned he would be coming on the Tour after a while. However, fans can expect to catch him in action sometime this season.

On the other hand, Nadal is in the semifinal of the Australian Open. He will be facing the winner of the match between Gael Monfils and Matteo Berrettini. The semifinals will be taking place on Friday and we can expect to see the 20-time Grand Slam winner in action. We wish all players the best of luck.
