Rafael Nadal, after a record-equaling 20 Grand Slam win at the French Open 2020 in Paris, has some good news for his fans. He has made himself available for the Rolex Paris Masters at Bercy scheduled for later in the month. ATP World Tour Finals in London, scheduled for November 15-22, is also on the list of events he will be taking part in.

For all the accolades Rafa has amassed over his long and successful tennis career, Rolex Paris Masters remains unconquered territory. His best so far in the tournament has been the semi-finals from last year.

Hard at practice at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Nadal took to Twitter to break the news of his participation.

Nadal is one in the pool of 7 men that have already qualified for the tournament. Roger Federer forms part of the pool too but will be unavailable due to surgery to his knee.

What does it mean For The Fans And The Tournament?

Rafael Nadal’s news of participation in the Rolex Paris Masters from October 31 comes as a sigh of relief for the organizers and fans alike.

The event off late has been going through a rough time. Right from the prize money being slashed to almost 70% to the revised pandemic guidelines by the Paris government, the tournament has been seeing it all.

Nadal had stated uncertainty over his taking part in any other tournaments in 2020 post the win at Chatrier. Hence, the news of his participation will act as a major positive for the fortunes of the tournament.

The Rolex Paris Master, to be played behind closed doors now after the revised guidelines, will see the Spaniard great fight it out for the only possible title that has eluded him.

A title at Bercy would mean an extra 640 points helping him close the gap between him and the current World No 1, Novak Djokovic.

Rafael Nadal currently stands at one shy of 1000 singles matches win in ATP Tour events, with a high probability of becoming only the second player after Roger Federer to achieve the feat.
