<span style="font-weight: 400">2020 was the best season for Dominic Thiem as a tennis player. The season was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Austrian tennis player registered 25 wins, compared to only nine losses. This also included his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in New York, in the final against </span><a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/alexander-zverev/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Alexander Zverev</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. He also reached the finals of the Australian Open, losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
