Rafael Nadal Makes Another Philanthropic Move to Help the Vulnerable Affected by COVID-19

World No.2 Rafael Nadal has planned yet another philanthropic move through his charity foundation. Recently, the Rafa Nadal Foundation announced the creation of the Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Madrid. The Madrid base will be the third of its kind for the Rafa Nadal Foundation since the launch of their first center in Palma (2014), and then in Valencia, which opened in 2019.

Acknowledging the hardships endured by minors and their families due to the pandemic, the foundation will aim to fight against the social effects of the crisis. Furthermore, the foundation’s efforts have strengthened after receiving donations from Endesa, the largest electric utility company in Spain.

Rafael Nadal’s Foundation announces Madrid Center

Nadal‘s wife and the Director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation, Maria Francisca Perello, talked about the adverse situation caused by the pandemic and appreciated Endesa for their collaboration.

The situation we are experiencing caused by the pandemic is depriving many boys and girls of their right to grow up free and happy, to play, learn and interact among equals. Given this context, we appreciate Endesa’s involvement in facing this reality, betting on social and health initiatives that, today more than ever, are of vital importance, ” said Maria.

This was Endesa’s second donation to the Rafa Nadal Foundation, with the first coming in July last year. Jose Bogas, CEO of Endesa, considers the company’s partnership with the Foundation as a great opportunity for their Public Responsibility Plan.

The Centers conduct a comprehensive training program for children which places emphasis on sports, educational, and psychosocial aspects. To minimize the negative effects of the pandemic, the Madrid Center will also provide psychological support to families in situations of unemployment.

Since Marid has a high rate of inequality and child poverty, the Foundation is searching for a space in the city to build a new center and alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable people. The aim is to promote a child’s personal and educational development and to provide equal opportunities.
