The top-seed Spaniard, Rafael Nadal will begin his venture to defend his Rogers Cup against Dan Evans. Before his first match at Rogers Cup 2019, he reflected his thoughts on Roger Federer’s collection of 20 Grand Slams and he clearly mentioned that breaking Federer’s record is not on his priority list.

“It’s not something I am obsessed about it. I am doing well, of course, I would like to have more than him,” Rafa said. “If it happens, great, but I want to keep creating chances to compete for the most important tournaments and let’s see if I win a couple more.”

The feisty Spaniard his content with all his achievements in his sporting career. A few athletes sacrifice all their lives for tennis and despite all their endeavors, they fail to earn an ATP point. And considering all that, the World Number two tennis player is grateful for everything he has.

“I just want to be happy, I have achieved much more than what I ever dreamed of and I just want to be healthy. If that happens, I am happy playing. If I am able to combine these two things, normally I have chances to compete for the biggest things, play what I like to play as good as possible and as long as possible,” Rafael Nadal added.

Before he begins with his journey in Montreal, Rafa spoke about his French Open collection. “Of course it’s not from 0 to 12, it’s from 11 to 12 so it’s not a big difference,” Rafael Nadal said. “Of course, when you see 12 number is something unbelievable, it’s the most important place in my career and it’s special to still be competitive at my age.”

Over the past few months, Rafa has been struggling with his body. Last year, after his title win in Toronto, Nadal was title-less until Rome Masters 2019, so in total, the Spaniard had a title-less drought for 10 long months.

“Winning one more time after some months of injuries is something emotional and amazing,” he added. “I have been dealing with many problems over the last 18 months, every week a different issue. Too many issues that destroy you at one point, you do not enjoy competing because of too much pain. Since Madrid my body is doing well, it’s not that I have not pain, but I can play without limitations.
