Tennis star and world number 2, Rafael Nadal is definitely one of the most talented players. Of that there is no doubt, but he isn’t completely attuned to tennis alone. The Spaniard is also a keen golfer when he isn’t wielding a tennis racquet. He first began to play when he suffered an injury that threatened to end his career.

Recently, at the Balearic Islands Golf Championship, the world no. 2 took the runners up spot. The tournament took place at the Vall D’0r Golf Club in southern Mallorca. Nadal was participating on behalf of the Son Servera golf club. He ended the game with 70 shots (-1) when the first day concluded. Sadly, he relinquished the lead to eventual winner, Federico Páez and finished second with 150 strokes.

Miguel Angel Nadal, former footballer and Rafa’s uncle, ended the game down in 15th. Interestingly, Nadal has a 1.5 handicap, which makes him eligible to become a professional. He participated in a number of golf championships and even came fifth in the Amateur Championship in the Balearic Islands in 2018.

He also promotes the annual charity golf event in Son Servera with compatriot and golfer José María Olazábal. Paez was thoroughly impressed with the 17-time Grand Slam winner. He even admitted that he did not feel pressure in facing him.

The Tennis world number 2 commenced day two with two birdies in the first three holes. According to Paez’ observation, Nadal played golf in a highly methodical and capable manner. He also praised Nadal’s swing, which he felt was partly due to the influence of tennis.

Paez also noted Nadal’s excellent co-ordination and ability to move the ball the way in the desired direction. He added that not many pros could boast of such ball control. On some occasions, people would often stop by to greet Rafa. But he always retained his competitive instinct.
