World No.2 Rafael Nadal, who is currently bidding for his fourth title at the US Open 2019 once again proves to have a generous heart as he rescued a kid at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The USTA Next Generation sets up special signing opportunities for children only. They have got a kid zone, where only kids are allowed in. However, when Rafael Nadal came there to sign the autographs, it got a little too obstreperous for a little kid standing in the front row. The kid got crushed by the eager mob which caught Nadal’s attention.

Subsequently, the youngster was saved by Rafael Nadal as he pulled him out of the crowd. The 18-time Grand Slam champion then spoke to the crying kid and console him. Nadal even signed the kid’s cap before signing a few more in the audience.

Rafael Nadal also revealed in an interview that he did not do anything special. He said, “I think, as always when somebody who is famous does stuff like this, seems like it’s amazing, but for me personally is just a very normal thing.”

He further explained that what the child was going through in the crowd. “When you see a kid that he’s suffering in the middle of a multitude of people, he was not able to breathe well. So he lost a little bit the breath. I just tried to help him, to relax and to come back to the normal situation.”

Nadal further continued, “He was crying and it’s not about crying. He felt, you know, bad at that moment. That’s all. I was happy that I saw him with that situation and I was able to pull him out from the middle of all the people.”

The Spaniard will play Hyeon Chung in the third round of the US Open 2019 on Saturday. Earlier, the 33-tear-old was benefitted from a walkover on Thursday night from an injured Thanasi Kokkinakis.
