Rafael Nadal to Meet Roger Federer After 11 Years at Wimbledon Championships

Rafael Nadal reaches the semifinals of the Wimbledon Championships 2019 after cruising past through a tough test against Sam Querrey, beating him in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Rafael Nadal showed his dominance right from the opening set as he broke Sam Querrey in the 3rd game with a ferocious forehand passing shot as the American paid off to approach the net. The Spaniard faced a breakpoint scare at 4-3, but Nadal held to get a lead of 5-3.

However, Sam Querrey fought back hard as he saved 3 set points to break Nadal at 5-5. Rafael Nadal then back in business as he broke back the big man’s serve in the next game to serve for the first set. After a deficit of 0-30 in the next game, Rafael Nadal did well to save a break point and winning the set 7-5.

In the second set, both the players held their opening service game strongly. However, in a replica of the first set, Rafael Nadal took control over the second set after breaking Querrey in the third game. The 33-year-old then went on to win the second set 6-2 quite comfortably as he broke twice.

The World No.2,  wasted absolutely no time as again earned an early break in the first game of the third set. The Spaniard again broke Sam to get a comfortable lead of 4-1 in the third set. Both the players held their serve strongly before Nadal served for the match at 5-2. He then went on to win the game, set, match after holding his serve.

Nadal will face his arch-rival, Roger Federer in the semifinals of the Wimbledon Championships 2019 as the Spaniard reaches the last four for the second consecutive year at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

The two will face each other for the 40th time in their career. The two will meet after 11 years at the Wimbledon Championships after their epic finals in 2008.
