

Father and coach of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is reportedly in a coma at a hospital in Moscow, Russia.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has coached Khabib for the major part of his career. According to reports, the family flew him to a special military hospital in Moscow from his home country of Dagestan. Transferring him to a better- equipped medical facility was necessary after he suffered severe complications from pneumonia. Moreover, multiple sources and reports say that he was placed in a medically induced coma.

Support pours in for Khabib Nurmagomedov
Dana White, the president of the UFC, in a statement posted on UFC official website, acknowledged the current condition of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. Additionally, he spoke about the contribution of Abdulmanap in shaping his son Khabib’s career, making his son the greatest fighter in the UFC roster.

The statement read, “Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is a true martial artist who lives a life of pride, honor, and respect. He instilled those same values in his son, world champion Khabib, at an early age and was always in his corner throughout his career. I know how close Khabib is with his father and I’m saddened to hear about his current state. My thoughts are with Abdulmanap and the Nurmagomedov family as he continues to fight.”
Also, hearing about this news, even Khabib’s fiercest rival reached out in support. Besides others, Conor McGregor took to social media to show his solidarity with the Nurmagomedov family. sending thoughts and prayers their way.

He tweeted out saying, ”Praying for the recovery of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. A man responsible for more World champions, across multiple fighting disciplines, than we even know. A true martial genius! Very saddened upon hearing this news tonight. Praying for the Nurmagomedov family at this time.”
