Real Madrid Invite Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to Play at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

In what could be a record for a tennis match between the two legends who have won the most Grand Slam titles in the history, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer could play at Real Madrid’s new Bernabeu stadium.

According to reports, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez his plans in the board meeting to host an exhibition match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The President presented his idea to the representative partners last might in the press room at the Bernabeu stadium.

A report from a Spanish newspaper, ABC suggests that Perez has already informed Rafael Nadal about his plans to host a tennis match between him and his arch-rival Federer in front of 80,000 spectators. The match could break the record of largest ever attendance for a tennis game, which would be more than double of the previous record.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, however, is aiming to break the record of 35,681 attendance for a tennis match, when they play each other in front of 50,000 people in Africa for the benefit of the Roger Federer Foundation.

The 48000 tickets for Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal match we’re sold out in 10 minutes. “We are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic reaction on our ticket sales and we sincerely thank you for the overwhelming support,” the chief executive of Roger Federer Foundation, Janine Handel had said in an interview earlier.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are scheduled to play at the 2019 Laver Cup, which is scheduled to start from September 20. The two will play a doubles match for Team Europe at the Laver Cup 2019.

Nadal and Federer have faced each other 40 times in their career so far with the former leading their head-to-head record 24-16. The pair came close to a first-ever meeting at the US Open last week but the five-time US Open champion fell short of Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals.
