Harry Redknapp has resigned as the manager of Queens Park Rangers with immediate effect, the club confirmed. Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey will take temporary charge of the team.

QPR are currently embroiled in a relegation fight, but Redknapp explained that an upcoming unavoidable knee surgery set to physically inhibit him for several weeks, he no longer feels he can do the job to the level that is required.

He said “Sadly I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks. It means I won’t be able to be out on the training pitch every day and if I can’t give 100 percent I feel it’s better for someone else to take over the reins.”
