The 24-year-old American, Reilly Opelka, is one of the tallest players on the Tour in the modern era at 6ft 11 inches. He recently competed in the fourth edition of the unique Laver Cup, held in Boston.

Reilly represented Team World against Team Europe in the tournament, as Team World ended up on the losing side for the fourth consecutive edition. Despite the unfortunate outcome, the red team’s dressing room was far from mundane as Opelka hilariously imitated fellow American Jack Sock.

Reilly Opelka was part of the Laver Cup for the first time in 2021

During the course of the Laver Cup, the tall American player was part of the team comprising Denis Shapovalov, John Isner, Diego Schwartzman, Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger Aliassime with Jack Sock as an alternate.

The 6ft 11inches player imitated his fellow Team World player. Notably, Sock has been an everpresent at the Laver Cup and has contributed to making the event iconic. Jack has a unique style of executing his shots and Opelka was imitating Sock. The whole sight was quite amusing.

Opelka’s 2021 season

Opelka began his season in Melbourne and came as far as the second round. After that, he was seen in Paris at the French Open. He reached the third round of the tournament, which was his best result at the venue.

At Wimbledon, Opelka had a disappointing outing as he was eliminated by Dominik Koepfer in the first round. At the US Open 2021, he put on an impressive show and reached the fourth round. It will be interesting to see how the American giant performs in the upcoming 2022 season.
