No publisher or developer in the gaming industry is loved by everyone, which is hardly surprising. A slew of different opinions and preferences are only natural in a community as vast and as passionate as gaming. However, EA is one such company that polarizes opinions like no other. Largely loved during its initial years, a large section of the community has come to detest EA. It was Ea’s relentless pursuit of profits while compromising on the quality that rubbed the fans the wrong way. There is one series, though, that struck the perfect balance of quality and profits for EA, which was Mass Effect.

Mass Effect Andromeda Pans
EA released the first Mass Effect title in 2007, which became an instant success. Subsequently, devs released the following two installments in 2010 and 2012. The trilogy was highly acclaimed for both its storytelling, game mechanics, character development. Another aspect of the trilogy that made it an absolute delight was the fact that player choices affected the narrative. While that is commonplace today, it was not so back then.

Many lauded EA for delivering a unique and satisfying trilogy that concluded on just the right note. However, a few years later, EA decided to cash in on the series’ popularity by releasing a new installment. Mass Effect Andromeda (2017) featured a completely new line of characters and a new setting as well.

Not surprisingly, the title was panned by fans and critics alike. It was always going to be a huge ask for EA to successfully recapture the magic of the original trilogy. But now, they seem to have learned their lesson, at least when it comes to Mass Effect. Instead of a new installment, it looks like they’ve decided to simply remaster the original trilogy for new-age gaming rigs.

While there is no official confirmation from the company yet, it does make a lot of sense. The series still ranks among many gamers’ favorites and a remastered edition would no doubt be highly successful. The gameplay, narrative, mechanics, character development, and all those aspects of the game do still invoke interest in gamers. Add to that remastered graphics and visual effects, and EA is sure to have a winner on its hand.
