Respawn Entertainment documentary wins big at the 93rd Academy Awards
Respawn Entertainment produced the short film Colette with popular gaming studio Electronic Arts and Oculus Studios. The movie was released as part of the developer’s latest VR title Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond. The 24 minute documentary was part of a collection of shorts consisting of World War II legends. It premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival last year, where it also won the award for the best documentary which secured its ticket to the 2021 Oscars.
Colette revolves around the story of Colette Marin-Catherine, a former French Resistance Fighter during World War II. The movie showcases her journey into Germany to visit her brother’s place of death for the first time since the end of the war. During the journey, she talks about the war, and her brother who died in a concentration camp at Mittelbau-Dora. Filmmakers Anthony Giacchino and Alice Doyard created the short film for the video game.
