Roberto Bautista Agut Opens on His Quick Return To Davis Cup 2019 After His Father’s Demise

This week, the personal life of Roberto Bautista Agut was filled with distress. He on the verge of despair when he left Madrid on Thursday to see his ailing father. Bautista’s father passed away on the same day, and after attending the funeral, the brave man from Spain returned to Madrid to support his Davis Cup team. 

“My dad would be mad at me If I stayed at home and didn’t come back to support my team. I had the chance to say goodbye to him and I came back,” Roberto Bautista Agut said after the Davis Cup 2019 victory of Spain. 18 months ago, the Spanish hero lost his mother. 

Just three days after his father’s passing away, Bautista was back to business and defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(3), 6-3 to open Spain’s point account in Davis Cup Finals 2019 and moved his country one point closer to the title.

“It was very special on the court today,” the Spanish hero, Roberto Bautista Agut said after earning the first point for Spain with a straight-sets win over Felix Auger-Aliassime. “I just go out on the court and give my best. I am very happy that I could win. I am very happy I could win the first point for Spain.”

Two loved Spanish tennis players, Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut defeated the Canadian tennis players 2-0 in the Davis Cup Finals 2019 and simultaneously the Spaniards lifted up their sixth Davis Cup title.

The Spanish legend, Rafael Nadal saluted Bautista’s courage and commitment towards his profession, country, and team. “I have won all eight games, but here the person who has been vital is Roberto Bautista. He is an example for the rest of my life,” Rafa praised his dedicated compatriot.

World Number one, Nadal defeated Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (7) in the second singles rubber and aided his team to clinch the Davis Cup 2019 title.
