Roger Federer Announces Sad News After Creating History in Basel

After sealing his tenth title in Basel, Switzerland, World Number three, Roger Federer announced his withdrawal from Rolex Paris Masters 2019. The third seed at Rolex Paris Masters 2019, Federer stated recovery to be his reason for withdrawal and needs more physical rest.

“I am extremely disappointed to withdraw from the Rolex Paris Masters, I have to recover (from the fatigue ) because I want to play on the ATP circuit for a long time. I am sorry to my French fans and I will see them next year at Roland Garros,” Roger Federer announced.

At Swiss Indoors Basel, Roger Federer played some swift tennis, dropped just a service game and did not play any physically taxing matches to lift his tenth title on his home turf. Despite have a calm and composed week in Basel, the Swiss maestro decided stepped down from the Rolex Paris Masters 2019.

The boy from Basel was reduced to tears after his victory over the young Australian soul, Alex De Minaur, “I would have never thought to win here 10 times, not even one, so it‘s very special. Thank you, everyone, hope to see you all next year!” Federer said on the court.

Last year, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic played a quality semifinal match in Paris and Djokovic was triumph over the Swiss without breaking Federer’s serve. This year, Federer was drawn to face his arch-rival, Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of the Rolex Paris Masters 2019.

As the Paris’ hard-court tournament is now ruled out from his calendar, Roger Federer will next fly to London for ATP Finals and will compete against the eight elite men of the sport.

Since Switzerland has failed to qualify for Davis Cup Finals 2019, Federer will not be present in Madrid, Spain and he will show up at a few exhibition events in South America.
