Roger Federer at Barbeque Competition: “I’m More Nervous Than Wimbledon Right Now”

World No.3 Roger Federer, an icon of style and lover of good food does not hide his cooking skills as he was seen cooking at the player’s restaurant at the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion is all set to open his campaign at the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019, however, the Swiss maestro took some time off court as he grilled some food for himself at the player’s lounge and restaurant.

It seemed that Roger Federer is a fan of slow cooking as when he was asked about how much time would it take to grill the food, the Basel native replied: “It’s almost 5’O clock, I think it will be ready by like 7.30.”

The Swiss was competing with the Chinese legend tennis player, Li Na at the Barbeque competition. He also joked: “I am nervous than Wimbledon right now”

Shanghai is known for its many exclusive restaurants and one such hot spot is the Masters Club at the Rolex Shanghai Masters serves only an elite clientele made up of the top tennis players of the world and a few lucky guests. The club opens for only eight days a year.

The Masters Club is certainly a standout on the tennis circuit. The tournament also brings the Michelin-starred guest chef every year to present some of his unique dishes to the menu.

Roger Federer will open against Albert Ramos Vinolas in the second round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 on Tuesday after receiving a bye in the first round. The 38-year-old will potentially meet Dominic Thiem in the semifinals and world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the title match.
