Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer has been missing from the Tour since Wimbledon last year. The legendary player has been troubled by injuries for the past couple of seasons, which has allowed others to surpass him in the ATP rankings.
Since the Australian Open 2020, Roger has barely played any tennis. He had to undergo a double knee surgery in 2020, which kept him away from the scenes for the majority of the season. Federer made a comeback in Doha last year but only made a handful of appearances after that.

Roger Federer drops to World No. 30 for the first time since 2001
Federer only competed in the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships and did not perform as per his usual standards. Due to these unfortunate outcomes, the 40-year-old superstar has suffered in the ATP Rankings.
Post the Australian Open 2022, the Swiss maestro has moved to the 30th spot in the rankings. He has never been ranked as low as this in over two decades. The last time he was in ranked as low as this was in January 2001, which more than anything, highlights the unbelievable consistency with which he has performed on the Tour.

It is no doubt that age is catching up with the majestic athlete. However, he has time and again proved his doubters wrong and shocked the world by making a comeback to win the Australian Open 2017.

It will be interesting to see when he decides to return back on the Tour. At the moment, he is still recovering and he would be targeting a return at the Wimbledon Championships, as that is the tournament he has seen the most success.
