The 29-year-old, Albot exhibited few of his net charging skills during the match and that gave a tough time to the Swiss. He won the point in a rally which lasted 22 shots in the third set and made the opening round for Roger Federer arduous. After more than two hours, the fourth seed, Roger Federer exhibited his vintage tennis by breaking the Moldavian at 5-3 and later served it out in his style and survived his opening round match in the Miami Gardens.

After his 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 over Albot, Roger Federer will play Filip Krajinovic who earlier distressed Federer’s compatriot, Stan Wawrinka. He slammed 14 aces with his serve on the Moldavian’s court and Albot could manage to produce just three of them. Also, the World Number four double-faulted twice in the match.

Before breaking Albot in the final set, the Swiss saved a crucial break point at 3-3 in the deciding. Also, Federer felt the complexities in reading the serves of Albot. At some point of time, the match gave the sensations of his previous year’s opening round loss to Thanasi Kokkinakis on the courts of Key Biscayne.
