Roger Federer Hits Back at Critics About his Earnings

Roger Federer is not only the most successful tennis player but he is also one of the richest athletes in the world. However, the 20-time Grand Slam champion sometimes faces criticism for his too many off-court commitments. The Swiss star has finally broken his silence and opened up on the criticism about his earnings.

Roger Federer’s earnings

Roger Federer is the 5th richest sportsman in the world with a reported net worth of $450 million. According to Forbes, the Swiss star has also earned a whopping total career prize money of $123.6 million.

The World No.3 has sponsorship deals with over 12 companies from Rolex to Credit Suisse – which also contribute to his wealth. Moreover, the Swiss maestro signed a $300 million sponsorship deal with Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo last year.

Roger Federer accepts criticism 

Although Federer does a lot of charity through his foundation, he gets condemned for his off-court activities. However, the 38-year-old accepted that he cannot satisfy everyone and cannot be liked by everyone.

“I cannot be liked by everyone,” Federer admitted. “If I had no contract it would have been because I acted in a wrong way.”

He further added: “I do not want to always be on the spotlight, especially in Switzerland, but what can I do if the media speak about me?

Roger Federer also explained that disapproval will always be there and revealed that he has accepted it. Federer further explicated that he has also learned to be himself.

“Criticism will always be there and sometimes it’s hard to accept, but over the years I learned to go beyond, the most important thing is to always be myself. What’s written is not so important in my life,” he concluded.

It must be noted that Federer’s competition winnings are significant. However, the majority of his earnings come from lucrative sponsorship deals with the likes of Rolex, Mercedes, and Uniqlo.
