After the conclusion of his Latin American tour, Roger Federer flew to New York City. Over there, he was live on the ‘Today’ section of NBC News and stated that he will never give up playing professional tennis.

“Last week, there were questions like, ‘how is retirement going to be and when it going to come. I think they all wanted to know. But no, this is not going to happen. On (the Swiss shoe manufacturers, where Federer has recently bought a stake) doesn’t want me to retire. They want me to play as long as possible,” he said.

“When I do a venture like this, people want to know how it’s going to look like later on. If they would like to see the exit of tennis, but that’s not the case. I will never retire,” Roger Federer to Savannah Guthrie on Today.

Speaking about On, Roger Federer recently acquired a stake in a Zurich-based company, On. They manufacture running shoes. It is a move prompted towards the end of the contract with his age-old shoe sponsors Nike Inc.

“I am an investor in the company, I am a partner with them now. They are just so friendly, we got to know them, in the last few years now. We have been chatting what could we do together or does it make sense. They are one of the fast-growing sneaker companies right now. They got me on-board and I thought it would be a perfect time for me to be part of that. I love my fashion as you know. I just love the shoes and they are great,” Federer added.
