Roger Federer Reveals Who he Would Cheer For

Roger Federer is all set to give it another try to reach the 100 mark in number of titles won, at the ATP World Tour Finals next week. While Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from the tournament might have come as sweet music to Roger Federer’s ears, there is still the threat of Novak Djokovic lurking, who is clearly the favorite to win the title, despite his disappointing loss against the Russian youngster Karen Khachanov, in the finals of the Rolex Paris Masters 1000, last week.

Federer was asked who would he cheer for if he would not have chosen tennis as a profession. “For sure Rafa”, said Roger Federer. “He is exciting, energetic, the ideal guy for young guys”, he continued. “I appreciate both of them a lot, they play an unbelievably physical tennis, they are younger than me but I feel better physically than how I was doing at 20 years”, he added.

Roger Federer, who is seeking his 100th career ATP title and a sixth end-of-year crown, is the second seed at the O2 Arena in London and has been drawn alongside the fourth seed Kevin Anderson, the sixth seed Dominic Thiem and the seventh seed Kei Nishikori in Group Lleyton Hewitt.

He will face Kei Nishikori in his first match of the group matches. The Swiss maestro also praised London, as the venue for the world tour finals.  “I was very happy that the tour decided to go to a place that had a lot of the history with tennis after being in different places many years before that which maybe doesn’t have quite the same history like London does”, said Roger Federer.

“So that was exciting for me, and personally I was pumped and I thought it was a great inaugural World Tour Finals, what you call it now, at the time”, he continued. “So I’m still happy we’re there, and we’ll see what happens in the future”, he added.
