World Number three, Roger Federer arrived a few days before the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 tournament got officially underway and he was occupied with a few promotional events with his Asian sponsors. In total, Federer attended 12 sponsor events and then played his first match in Shanghai, China.

“Everything goes over my desk if you like. I approve if I want to do an event or not. I’ve got to tell the team if I have the energy or the patience to do all the events. I can also say, Look, I’m playing in Beijing or Tokyo the week before, and I have no time to do sponsor appearances. But I chose to do it this way. It’s an important market for me. It’s an important tournament,” Federer said.

“I want to be well prepared as well for the Shanghai tournament. For that reason, I am happy to travel here early anyhow. I want to make most of it from my partners, for the fans, for me and for the market. Now it’s just tennis, press and really getting into the tournament,” he added. In 2018, the Asian apparel brand, Uniqlo signed a $300 million sponsorship deal with Roger Federer.
