To begin the quest for his 21st major and snap his title-less drought at the American major, World Number three, Roger Federer has begun hitting on the courts of Flushing Meadows. On Tuesday, the Swiss maestro made his appearance at the UNIQLO Global Flagship store located in the Fifth Avenue of the borough of Manhattan, New York.

Over there, Roger Federer was asked about the mindset he wears during a tennis match and how does his thinking change during the course of the match. “I guess, the beginning is like, let’s see how this is going to turn out to be. And towards the end, thankfully more often, I feel I like it, this match is turning out like the way I wanted it to be,” Roger Federer said.

Winning matches is a process which is carried out at a sedate pace and Federer believes taking it step by step with a single-pointed focus on every single point which he is playing. Also mentioned about the crowd’s presence impacting his game.

“You actually have to take it one point at a time. It sounds crazy, but its like little by little you get to the finish line. Sometimes it is sprints and sometimes it’s sort of a marathon. But you wanna stay focused, enjoy the crowd, the crowd maybe drive you on and sometimes like in the Wimbledon finals it doesn’t go in the way you want and that is where it ends,” Roger Federer added.

He shared about himself from his yesteryears and feeling remorseful about certain things in life. “At the end of the day, you just have to try your best and have no regrets. It felt like, when I was young I had too many regrets, and that was terrible for me. I was too crazy back in those days,” the Swiss mentioned.
