Roger Federer Reveals Why Shanghai Masters is a Special Tournament For Him

The Shanghai Masters began in the year 2009 and since the inception of the Chinese Masters tournament World Number threeRoger Federer has been participating. He spoke about his deep-rooted connection with the Chinese event. “I opened the stadium, so forever I will be connected to this tournament,” Federer said.

He seems to be fit for Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019 and feels positive heading into the tournament. “I felt really refreshed going into the Laver Cup. And the day after basically was in the gym after the Laver Cup doing my stuff, getting ready for here, and I’m happy where I am right now,” said Federer.

After his five-set defeat at the US Open 2019 to Grigor Dimitrov, Roger Federer took a ten-day-break from tennis to recover physically and he was pain-free during Laver Cup 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. Presently, he is injury-free and optimistic about his stay in Shanghai.

The two-time champion in Shanghai, Federer is looking forward to giving his best in Shanghai. Also, the Swiss maestro receives tons of support from his Chinese fan base. He has been spending some quality time in Shanghai and the Chinese crowd is cherishing his presence in their city. The locals are turning up in huge numbers for Federer’s practice sessions.

At Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019, the second seed, Federer will begin his venture against the Belgian, David Goffin, then he is drawn to take on Marin Cilic in the next round. In the quarterfinals, the German,  Alexander Zverev might play Federer and then he would play against Dominic Thiem in the semifinals.

He can set up a final against the World Number one, Novak Djokovic. The top-seeded Serbian, Djokovic won the Japan Open title on Sunday.
