Roger Federer, returned to professional tennis, after spending the off-season practicing in Dubai. The Swiss maestro, who is currently playing at the Hopman Cup, barely broke a bead of sweat as he blitzed through his opening match, putting Switzerland in the driver’s seat against Great Britain. Federer, did not allow Britain’s Cameron Norrie any opportunity or space, hitting his spots very early in the match.

Federer dispatched the Brit in straight sets, dropping just two games in the match. It was all Federer from the start of the match, and although it was against a much less potent player, the fact remains that he is still one of the favorites to win the title at the Australian Open.

He also mentioned how winning any tournament for the first time was always difficult, and defending any title was comparatively easier, as you get the nervousness out of the picture in the first win. “Defending is easier than winning it first time”, said Roger Federer in his post match on-court interview.

Federer will now play his next match alongside Belinda Bencic as they face off against Britain’s duo, which will take place after the women’s singles rubber later today.
