World Number three, Roger Federer was in conversation with W Radio Columbia and over there he reflected upon his 2019 tennis season. In a nutshell, the Swiss legend summarises his season to be an ‘incredible one’, but however, he regrets not winning a big title this year and also not converting the two championship points under the English sky.

“The only thing missing was that big title, maybe not making that match point at Wimbledon but still I have a chance at the World Tour Finals.  And that’s why I’m resting and really making sure I’m at a 110% for the World Tour Finals,” Federer said.

Roger Federer won titles in Dubai, Miami, Halle, and Basel in 2019 and altogether he lost eight matches this year. Also, the 2009 French Open champion remarked his return to clay after three years, the Swiss maestro made it to the semifinals of Roland Garros 2019 and fell to the best clay courter of all times, Rafael Nadal.

“I mean look, you cannot deny the fact and look past Wimbledon and think hat I was one shot away from winning Wimbledon and that would change the season from a really good one to an incredible one. I do believe I did play well at the Grand Slams this year, it took the best players in the world to beat me there,” said Roger Federer.

The Swiss also received success in other events. “I played great at Hopman Cup, Laver Cup, I won four other events. I felt I was playing at a really high-level throughout, I didn’t lose many matches this year. So I think overall I can every happy with my tennis,” he added.

“Other than that, I’m looking ahead to the next season. I just want to make sure I have a great next season, and if I can win another four, five titles next season, I will be very happy with that,” the Swiss continued.

Before calling off the 2019 tennis season, Roger Federer will be featuring at a few exhibition matches in South America. He will be playing against Alexander Zverev and Juan Martin Del Potro in Columbia and Argentina respectively.
