The scheduled exhibition match between Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev got canceled in Bogota, Colombia due to riots in the town. To make up for the loss of the Colombian tennis fans, Federer would financially compensate for their ticket purchases or reschedule another exhibition match in Colombia.

World Number three, Federer’s agent, Tony Godsick spoke to the Swiss newspaper, Tages Anzeiger and he mentioned that Federer will put up an exhibition match in Colombia after Miami Open 2020 in March.

Just in case, if the event doesn’t take place the 38-year-old, Roger Federer will be compensating for the loss by issuing refunds to the audience who purchased their tickets.

“Roger compensates the fans in Bogota,” Godsick said.“Our goal is that the game is made up for next year. If this is not possible, Roger will return his fee and ensure that the fans get the money back for their tickets.”

“They were incredibly loud when he first started there. This beautiful story must not end with this cancellation, that’s clear. The goal is to be able to present a replacement date in mid-December, for which the tickets already purchased are valid. The ideal would be if Roger is already in the area anyway. For example, around the tournament in Miami,” Godsick added.

The event organizer Manuel Mate claimed the tennis fans would not get a refund for their ticket. “We are very sad and in a financially very difficult situation,” he said. “The expenditure remained the same, but many revenues disappeared. Some sponsors have supported us but by no means all of them.”

Last week, the Movistar Arena in Bogota, Colombia was expecting to have over 14,000 people in attendance for Federer’s match. However, two hours before the starting time of the match, it was called off owing to security concerns.
