Roger Federer To Take Some Time Off From Tennis After His Wimbledon Loss To Novak Djokovic

A despairing day for Roger Federer fans all around the world as the Swiss slipped championship points and missed his golden opportunities for his ninth Wimbledon title. World Number one, Novak Djokovic won 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3) over the Swiss maestro and bagged his 16th Grand Slam title of his career.

After spending two-weeks at Wimbledon Championships 2019, Roger Federer decides to skip the Rogers Cup tournament in Montreal, Canada.“Looking ahead, we had decided I would skip Montreal to give myself enough time off before preparing for Cincinnati. I don’t know what I feel right now. It was such an incredible opportunity that I missed that I can’t believe it, but it is what it is,”  the World Number three, Roger Federer said.

Today, it was four hours and 57 minutes battle between the two GOAT tennis players, with Djokovic clutching points at crucial instances and the top seed prevailed over the Swiss ace in all the three tiebreakers.

Federer regretted missing the match points (while he was serving for his 21st Slam) at 8-7 (40-15) in the final set and placing the ball on Djokovic’s forehand happened to be pricey. Despite the championship devastation, the ATP warrior, Roger Federer is optimistic about getting back on his feet after his inconsolable defeat at Wimbledon Championships 2019 final.

“You take it on the chin, move on and try to forget,” Roger Federer continued. “I will try to take the good things out of this match because there is tons of it. It hurts, like every loss at Wimbledon. I’m very strong at moving on. I don’t want to be depressed about losing an amazing tennis match.”

It was a captivating performance from Federer and Djokovic. The Serb lead by a break in the final set at 4-2, but the Swiss swiftly retaliated for the break in the next game. While Federer was one point away from his 21st Grand Slam, Djokovic came up with some courageous tennis.

It was first time ever a tiebreaker was played in the deciding set of a Wimbledon final match, also Novak Djokovic became the first man in 71 years to win a Wimbledon title after saving match points.

With this edgy defeat of Federer at SW19, he is yet to claim his win over Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon finals, as the Serb now holds a 3-0 win-loss record against the Swiss.
