With his victory over David Goffin in Halle yesterday, Roger Federer is now seven ATP titles away from Jimmy Connors’ record of 109 crowns. By collecting his title in the Wimbledon’s warm-up event on the German grass, mathematically empowers Federer as the second seed at the London major.

With this seeding, Roger Federer will not meet the top seed and defending champion, Novak Djokovic until the gentlemen’s finals of Wimbledon Championships 2019.“It might make no difference if Rafa is in my section (laughs),” Roger Federer said.“I guess you could say I avoid Novak in the semis. “But at the end of the day, that is so far away. What it helps me (to do) is plan earlier. That’s it.”

Last year, it was a despondent loss for the Swiss World Number three, Roger Federer in the quarterfinals on the Court Number One of Wimbledon. He was trounced by the rangy South African, Kevin Anderson in five sets after Federer faced a match point in the third set.
