Known as the man behind Roger Federer, Tony Godsick has been the Swiss maestro’s agent for the last 15 years. Recently, he opened up on the 39-year-old’s character outside of tennis.
In what could be called an all-out success, Tony helped Federer gain worldwide recognition. Now, the American works as the CEO of Team8 Sports and Entertainment, an agency which he co-founded with Federer.
The agency represents tennis stars like Juan Martin del Potro, Alexander Zverev, and Coco Gauff. Besides tennis players, they also handle the NHL goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

Tony handled the commercial part of Federer’s career, but success wouldn’t have come from just that bit. It is the Basel-born’s warm and welcoming personality that did and still does the trick for him to date.
In an interview, the American expressed that the 20-time Grand Slam champion is a natural communicator. That is why, despite playing only one tournament in 2020, he still won the fans’ favorite award for the 18 consecutive year.
The American also mentioned that he and Roger usually converse twice or thrice a day. He then went on to elaborate on their relationship and the character of the owner of 103 ATP titles.
“Roger is an extraordinary human being, as it relates to relationships,” Godsick said. “Not many people are as engaging and charismatic as he is. He makes it fun.”
Given his enticing personality, the 39-year-old has been able to sign contracts that go beyond his career in tennis. And that is also how he became the highest-paid athlete in 2020.
