Rogers Cup 2019 Draw – Rafael Nadal And Stefanos Tsitsipas On Collision Course

The Rogers Cup 2019 draw has been unveiled, and the top-notch ATP men will be grappling to win the Canadian Masters title in Montreal. With the absence of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic from the Montreal Masters, moves Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev to second and third seed spot respectively, and the defending champion, Rafael Nadal remains the top-seed and the reigning finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas takes the fourth spot.

World Number two, Nadal has won two titles since the time he won at Rogers Cup last year, the first in Rome and the next at Roland Garros. To defend his title, Rafa will take on Alex De Minaur or a qualifier in the opening round. In the second round, he might meet Guido Pella or David Goffin.

In the quarters, he is projected to face Fabio Fognini or Borna Coric, and semifinals against Tsitsipas, which would set the repeat of Rogers Cup 2018 final and then see Thiem or Zverev in the finals.

In Montreal, Thiem will open against Pierre-Hugues Herbert or Denis Shapovalov. In the quarters he is expected to meet Daniil Medvedev and followed by Zverev in the semifinals of the Rogers Cup 2019.

The second-seeded Austrian, Thiem in presently into the finals of his home country tournament in Kitzbuhel, Austria. He has had a pleasant season so far and his biggest title being the Indian Wells 2019, where he defeated Federer in the finals.

The 2017 Rogers Cup champion, Zverev will meet Karen Khachanov in the last eight round and Thiem in the last four of the Rogers Cup 2019. Before that, he will open against, Norrie or Fucsovics. He has a tough round two, where his opponent might be Basilashvili, Struff or Tsonga and then followed by Anderson or Wawrinka in the next round.

He recently split with his coach Ivan Lendl and dealt with a loss on his native turf in Hamburg.

Tsitsipas became the first teenager to defeat four top-ten seeds last year and he lost to Rafa eventually in the finals on the occasion of his 20th birthday. This year, Tsitsipas will meet Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals and Nadal in the semifinals of the Rogers Cup 2019.

The Greek lad, Tsitsipas has recovered from his Wimbledon‘s misery and he is presently in the quarterfinals of Washington Open 2019.

In the round one, Taylor Fitz and Milos Raonic will face each other. Stan Wawrinka and Grigor Dimitrov, Richard Gasquet and Benoit Paire, Nick Kyrgios and Kyle Edmund will set up their opening round matches. And Felix Auger-Aliassime and Pospisil will set the opener.

Rogers Cup will be getting underway from August 5, 2019.
