Royal Challengers Bangalore Beat Delhi Daredevils

The Royal Challengers Bangalore got a bit of their mojo back with a 6-wicket victory over the Delhi Daredevils. RCB won the toss and elected to field, pitching Delhi to bat first. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Jason Roy stumbled early, with Shaw going for 2 and Roy being dismissed for 12 runs.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant got Delhi back on track with a solid innings. Ultimately, Iyer was dismissed for 32 while Pant stuck around for a little while longer. The next batsman, Vijay Shankar, struck another 21 runs and remained on the pitch till the end. He was joined by Abhishek Sharma after Pant was sent back for an early shower. Sharma smashed a well-played 46 runs and brought Delhi’s total to 181 runs.

Soon, it was the turn of the Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat. Openers, Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali had very short stints at the crease, with Patel scoring 6 and Ali scoring 1. Then, the fun began as skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers took to the crease. This time around, the two lived up to their reputation and proceeded to give the Delhi bowlers nightmares.

Eventually, Kohli was eliminated for 70 runs and Mandeep Singh took his place. Singh departed for 13 runs and his successor Sarfaraz Khan was sent back for 11. Delhi knew that the danger was far from over as de Villiers was still at the crease. The Proteas batsman finished off the job with Colin de Grandhomme contributing 3 runs. RCB calmly reach the target with 5 wickets down and a final score of 187, with de Villiers smashing a six off the final delivery.

Moving to the bowlers’ performance, Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 2 wickets with an economy of 7.00. His scalps included openers Shaw and Roy. Moeen Ali had the best economy of 6.25 with 1 wicket, namely Rishabh Pant. Moving to the Delhi bowlers, Nepal bowler, Sandeep Lamichhane had the best economy with 6.25 for 1 wicket. Trent Boult snagged 2 wickets, of Mandeep Singh and Moeen Ali. But for Delhi, it wasn’t enough to secure the victory.
