Team Europe Has a Leading Contender to Captain the 2023 Ryder Cup Team in Rome: Report

The former World No.1 Luke Donald is currently the top contender to be Team Europe’s next Ryder Cup captain. Moreover, according to the reports, the authorities will appoint him by the end of this month. Meanwhile, Luke Donald is an English golfer with five PGA Tour and seven DP World Tour wins. 

Recently, Team Europe had to face a dreadful defeat against the mighty United States in the Ryder Cup. Hence, Team Europe is looking to revamp the set-up and appoint a new captain who can lead the team from the front. And Luke Donald’s name has emerged as a popular choice so far.

Luke Donald to lead the Team Europe for the next Ryder Cup?

The English golfer Luke Donald will most probably lead the next Team Europe for the Ryder Cup. The former skipper, Harrington, recently revealed that Donald might be the next captain. “All I can say is that Luke would be great. Behind the scenes, he does a terrific job. His management style, he’s got the experience, and I’d thoroughly recommend him,” said Padraig

However, previously, people believed Lee Westwood would be the next skipper. But since he is still playing some incredible golf, he wants to continue as a player. “It was assumed it was going to be Lee, but I can see where he is coming from. He is playing good golf, and he wants to concentrate on that,” said Harrington.

Meanwhile, Luke has been a part of the Ryder Cup team on four occasions. He was even a team member of the most famous 2021 ‘Miracle at Medinah.’ Notably, Donald, as a player, has never been on the losing side. Furthermore, he even has served as a vice-captain at the 2018 and 2020 Ryder Cup. 

Undoubtedly, he has enough experience and skills to lead the European side for the next Ryder Cup. So hopefully, if all goes well, then there will be an official announcement about this soon.
