World No. 1 Saina Nehwal & World No. 12 P V Sindhu are likely to face off against each other in the 2nd round of the Indonesia Open beginning in June.

Saina Nehwal is seeded 2nd in the tournament and she will begin her campaign against Nichaon Jindapost of Thailand, whom she has defeated in their last 3 meetings. P V Sindhu is not seeded in the tournament and she will begin her campaign against Hsu Ya Ching of China. If Saina wins her 1st round match & Sindhu is able to get pass the World No. 27 Chinese, fans can have a chance to see a mouthwatering contest between the leading Indian ladies of badminton at Istora Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Indonesia.

Saina has already won here thrice – in 2009, 2010 & 2012 and considers the Indonesia Open as one of her favorite tournaments. Saina lost here last year in the Quarter-Finals against her arch rival Li Xuerui of China who is seeded No. 1 in the tournament. P V Sindhu didn’t have a great tournament last year as she lost to Wang Yihan of China in the very first round of the tournament.

The two Indians have met only once at international level and that was in the Syed Modi International tournament this year, where Saina beat Sindhu in straight sets and went on to win her first tournament of the year. Both had a couple of meetings at the Indian Badminton League as well.

Saina & Sindhu are currently in Australia for the Australian Open Super Series which begins on 26th May. The $800,000 Indonesian Open is from 2nd-6th June. Other Indians in the fray are World No. 4, K. Srikanth and World No. 12 Parupalli Kashyap in the Men’s Singles category, while Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa will compete for the Women’s Doubles trophy.
