Spurs vs Rockets: Injury Updates, Team News, Match Preview & Predictions

James Harden of Houston Rockets

Match Details-

Fixture: Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs

Date & Time: Tuesday, December 3, 2019, 8:30 PM ET (Wednesday, 1:30 AM GMT)

Venue: AT&T Center, San Antonio.

The last two games probably sums up the season so far for San Antonio Spurs. A win against a high flying Clippers side and a crushing defeat in the hands of a struggling Pistons. They had started the season with four wins in the first five games. In the next 16 games, however, Spurs managed just three more wins. This justifies their 12th position in the Western Conference with a win-loss record of 7-14.

While San Antonio Spurs were thumped by Detroit Pistons in the last game, the Houston Rockets will be coming into the game after trashing Atlanta Hawks 158-111. After three consecutive losses against Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks, the Rockets bounced back with victories against Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks. They currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with a win-loss record of 13-6.

Injury updates & team news-

San Antonio Spurs-

Injuries: LeMarcus Aldridge (Thigh)- Qustionable, Chimezie Metu- Out

Predicted starting line up: DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay, Jakob Poeltl, Bryn Forbes, Derrick White

Houston Rockets-

Injuries: Eric Gordon (knee)- Out, Nene (Hip)- Out, Gerald Green (Foot)- Out.

In the last two wins for the Rockets, James Harden has contributed a staggering 94 points. In the previous game, Harden sat out after the third quarter and still finished with 60 points. There is very little as to why to not expect his scoring spree to continue against a struggling Spurs side.

DeMar DeRozan’s average of 21.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game will be the major offensive threat for the Rockets.

Houston has scored an average of 120.3 points per game and conceded an average of 114.5 points per game. Meanwhile, San Antonio has scored 110.9 points per game while allowing 115.1 (sixth worst in NBA) points per game. These stats suggest another high scoring game for the Harden and the Rockets, who might breeze past the Spurs, unless the San Antonio side manage to pull off something special.
