Preview-

The last time Los Angeles Lakers lost a game was seven games ago at home to Toronto Raptors and before that was on the opening night against local rivals Clippers. Seeing from a highly optimistic Spurs point of view, it would look like Lakers have lost a game, won seven in a row, lost another game, won seven in a row again, and will be playing San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

Lakers have played like a team competing for the championship from game 1. Their 14-2 win-loss record in the league so far is unmatched by any other team, with them scoring at an average of close to 112 points per game. They have also been miserly in their defence. Anthony Davis leads the league table for number of blocks, and is also scoring at a rate (25.5 points per minute) higher than any of his teammates. Davis, along with the ever present LeBron James, have proved a handful for the opponents.

For Spurs, the road has been far from straight forward this season, with just one win in the last nine games and six wins in the season so far. It was their victory in the previous game against New York Knicks that saw an end to a eight game losing streak. In the game, Spurs were led on offense by LaMarcus Aldridge, who ended with a total of 23 points on the night.  The Spurs had 26 assists to 22 turnovers in their victory, but what they will be facing on Monday would be an extremely difficult test for them.

Injury updates & team news-

Alex Caruso, who did not play for the Lakers against Grizzlies, is listed as day-to-day, and is doubtful for Monday’s game. DeMarcus Cousins is not expected to be back anytime soon, and Avery Bradley was reported to not travelling with the team till Wednesday. The Spurs, on the other hand, come into Monday’s game with a healthy squad.

Prediction-

The position in the Conference shows the season for the teams so far. Going by that, it will be very difficult to see Spurs getting the better of Lakers.
