Coming to Serena and tennis, she began her season at the WTA Melbourne Open 2021. However, she was forced to withdraw before her semifinal clash due to a shoulder injury. Later, she competed at the Australian Open and won the initial rounds with ease. In the semifinal, she lost to the eventual champion, Naomi Osaka.

Since then, she has not featured in any event but does intend to resume her season during the clay-court events.

She is expected to play next at the WTA Italian Open, prior to the French Open. Williams is looking forward to winning the much-awaited 24th Grand Slam title of her career.
